Nonstop flights make Caribbean, Bahamas just a hop away

Macon : "Getting to the sandy beaches of a Caribbean or Bahamian island is getting easier for travelers flying out of South Florida. More nonstop flights than ever from Miami and Fort Lauderdale will speed vacationers to their island destinations this fall. While some islands still can only be reached with a change in planes, the days when almost every Caribbean-bound flight went through a hub city are gone."

Travel: Life's a beach in Aruba

htrnews.com "For an island that's barely a blip on the radar screen, this Caribbean paradise sure packs a punch. Measuring a mere six miles wide and 19 miles long, Aruba has distinguished itself as a year-round haven for people eager to get away from it all. Basking beneath sun-soaked skies and surrounded by glistening turquoise waters, this Dutch delight offers something for everyone — from romantic and relaxing secluded beaches, to memorable windsurfing and snorkeling trips, to amazing submarine tours 120 feet below the surface, to breathtaking diving sites and shipwrecks."

Travel to Montserrat made easier

Caribbean Net News: "BRADES, Montserrat: Traveling to the pristine island paradise of Montserrat is considered part of the destination’s unique charm. For approximately 10 years after the destruction of the capital city Plymouth in 1995, vacationers could only travel to this pear-shaped island via helicopter or ferry. With increased accessibility now provided by the renewed partnership between regional carriers LIAT and Carib Aviation, travelers can again appreciate why this modern-day Pompeii is considered one of the Caribbean’s secluded seventh heavens."

Turks and Caicos Islands

MiamiHerald.com : "The Turks and Caicos also have some very high-end resorts. The kind where you might run into a star, someone like, oh, Conan O'Brien. I saw him hiding under a baseball cap pulled so low over his face that I might not have recognized him but for skin so white it was almost blue. Tourists like O'Brien have helped make Turks and Caicos Islands, or TCI, a success story. Twenty years ago, these 40-some islands and cays had few paved roads or services. Now this British crown colony has one of the world's fastest-growing economies; its 33,000 residents share their islands with about 300,000 tourists annually. There are a dozen or so high-end resorts where overnight stays often top $1,000 a night and a booming real estate market that caters to multimillionaires."

Caribbean islands ideal vacation destination

BCNG "Little did Christopher Columbus know, in 1493 when he discovered a chain of islands in the Caribbean, that they’d become popular tourist destinations attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors. He knew the islands were some of the most beautiful anywhere he’d been (and he was all over the place, literally) and the natives were friendly, sharing food and water and — well, let’s leave it at that, we said the natives were friendly.
