Destinations - U.S Virgin Islands Continues Sizzlin' Summer Sampler: "The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism is offering the new 'Sizzlin' Summer Sampler.' Travelers who book between June 15 and Oct. 15 for travel between Aug. 16 and Oct. 31 receive a fourth night free and a $100 American Express Travelers Cheque. In addition, all participants receive a $50 to $100 resort credit (depending on the hotel booked), plus up to $200 in savings on a host of included experiential activities and tours. Participating hotels include: The Buccaneer, Carambola Beach Resort, Chenay Bay Resort, Club St. Croix, Colony Cove, Divi Carina Bay Resort, Hotel Caravelle, Palms at Pelican Cove and Sand Castle on the Beach in St. Croix. Also included are The Westin Resort, Maho Bay and Gallows Point on St. John, as well as the Best Western Emerald Beach, Bolongo Bay Beach Resort, Holiday Inn Windward Passage, Marriott Frenchman's Reef, Pavilions & Pools, Point Pleasant Resort, Sapphire Beach Resort & Marina Sapphire Village, Secret Harbour Beach Resort, Wyndham Sugar Bay Beach Resort & Spa and Island Beachcomber Hotel on St. Thomas."

Caribbean Star marks final flight, transfers assets to LIAT

Advocate : "THE seven-year-old Caribbean Star operated its final flight yesterday, marking a takeover by competitor LIAT, in a buyout that Chairman, Jean Holder, describes as 'one of the most significant business deals in the history of the Caribbean' . Late last month, the two carriers finalised and executed an agreement that facilitated the transfer of Caribbean Star's assets to LIAT. That asset purchase agreement did not include the remaining five aircrafts leased by Caribbean Star, which are expected to be transferred to LIAT in a separate transaction expected to coincide with today's closure of the carrier, owned by Antigua-based Texan billionaire, Sir Allen Stanford."
